Outlook 2007 Postfix error 0x800CCC80

On many of my customers I've got a Fax Server made with Hylafax.

Faxes traffic is notified by email and because of this postfix is installed without too much security, the reason of this is that emails are sent only locally: no internet access for the Fax Server.

Well, today they introduced Outlook 2007 in one client and mails from that outlook 2007 client are not sent anymore with error 0x800CCC80.

How to fix this? After some checks I noticed
that the 0x800CCC80 associated message was true "None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server"... yes it is... on that postfix there are not authentication services.

Well, in this case, the job can be done on the client side: going into account details, went to the outgoing mail server settings and totally disabled that tab. How to? Uncheck the line "Outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authentication".

Works like a charm

Please note that in that tab, any other settings setup will not work if your postfix has got NO authentication methods, only disable it works.

Bye
I.C.
